ReplyDeletethanks for this info; i was surprised that the two blogs have disappeared; i don't understand the intention of the scam; only to be nocive?
ReplyDeletei hope the situation will become clear next hours.
friendly salutations to uri and you from sandor
Thank you for the warning!I thought of asking if he was hijacked, but its better I didnt touch it.all the best from jerusalem
ReplyDeleteI must be the most naïve of the group, because I seriously meant to go to Western Union tomorrow morning first things… and I even took the disappeareance of Uri's blogs as a bona fide sign!
ReplyDeleteThank you, plague to the scammers.
Thank you. Its very good of you to advise.
ReplyDeleteMy Google account was hijacked; as a result
ReplyDeleteI currently have 2 major problems:
1. my 2 blogs: The Jazz Inn and A Darker Dhade Of Blue just vanished. I can't access them and I have no idea what happened to them.
2. I lost the mailing lists( I don't have backup list) containing the email address of hundreds members of my blogs, thus I can't inform any of them on what's going on.
Hopefuly no one have send any money to this scum of the earth.
If you are a member of one of my blogs, please think of a way how to inform others.
This is a pretty common scam and I've had several of them all on similar lines - lost billfold, credit cards,no cash so can't pay hotel bill. Please send 300 euros/dollars/pounds to this address.....
ReplyDeleteAll addressed to me by first name and looks at first glance to be genuine but for those whose first language is English then there are usually one or two minor spelling/grammatical mistakes to be spotted.
It usually happens when someone gets hold of a contact list of email names and addresses and then just sends the same to everybody hoping that one or two will respond.
Tough luck Uri - can't explain the blog disappearance though.
Thanks for confirming this Grumpy! When I saw this Uri it didn't sound like you at all!!! In fact I deleted it immediately. Then, when I
ReplyDeletesaw your blogs gone I knew something was amiss.
Uri, I don't think that your blog followers will buy into this scam. We all know you and your MO so to speak. If you were travelling you would have told us so. Also, your English is much better than the Scumbag who hi-jacked your email. Hang in there Uri. Have Grumpy let us know when you have a new email!
I'm glad to hear that Uri is not trapped in the Philippines. That area has been having severe storms & floods. I hope Uri can recover access to his email & blogs.
ReplyDeleteUri's predicament did cause me to research how one can backup a gmail contact list. Here is what Google says.

Not a solution Uri to recovering his list, but it should help those, like myself, trying to avoid that terrible situation.
good news.!
ReplyDeleteyeah, it really sounded fake..
i did reply 'cause i thought he would say something about files, and re-posts
but money get in the conversation and it was suspicious
I wonder if this is a similar scam to what has occurred over at Freedom Blues?
ReplyDeleteSee...

I've gotten these from good friends (fake) over the past couple of years and you need to ignore them.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear/see this Uri. The email was obviously a scam but I know that's the least of your worries right now.
ReplyDeleteHope you manage to get things untangled.
Cheers, ceedee

Oh my God! Where are you now in the Philippines?
Sender posing as Uri:
Thanks alot for the concern, I really appreciate your effort in helping me out of the situation. You can help me transfer the money through Western Union money transfer.
Here are my details:
Receiver's Name: Uri Shlomo Hornstein
Address: Bonifacio Drive Manila 0913, Philippines
Amount: $1700
Please confirm the receipt of the details and as soon as you're able to complete the transfer, Please email me with the necessary details to receive the money and also let me know how you want to get the refund so I can make the arrangements to refund the money as soon as I get back home.
Thanks a lot for the support and I hope to hear from you soon.
Dominique:
I am very familiar with that place. But that address is not complete. Besides, I do not have that kind of money. What I can do is bring this to the attention of the police. They will help you find the taxi and probably return all your possessions. What is your exact address? Bonifacio Drive is a long stretch. There has to be a number of the building where I can send the police to help you out.
