Georges Arvanitas Quintet - Soul Jazz (1960) [vinyl>flac]

Georges Arvanitas (1931-2005) was one of the pioneers of modern jazz in France and most respected pianists in Europe. Classically trained, he absorbed bebop and hard bop jazz like a sponge during the 1950s from visiting American musicians.

Arvanitas recorded Soul Jazz in 1960 with top French musicians of the time. This classic album brings together the era’s finest French jazzmen (Georges Arvanitas, François Jeanneau, Bernard Vitet, Michael Gaudry and Daniel Humai) who impeccably interpret the bop and hard bop compositions of Bobby Timmons, Thelonious Monk, Max Roach, Sonny Rollins and Bud Powell., and performances are fiery, exciting and inspired. The quintet’s energy is dazzling, the vigor of their swing captivating, while their sound evokes the best Blue Note sessions of the time. Any European jazz lover won’t hesitate to tell you. "Soul Jazz" is without a doubt one of the rarest French modern jazz records and this rip is taken from the original French Columbia Pressing.
