Here we have a rare Frank Wess LP, an outing recorded sometime in 1970, where he directs his superior flute playing to number of popular Soul Jazz/Jazz-Funk tunes. He is backed by altoist Eli Fountain and an impressive, but unknown ensemble made up of horns, keyboards, guitar, vibraphone, electric bass and drums. Throughout this session there is abundant soloing by Frank, also of merit is the vibist and Fountain’s alto heard on “Ooh Child” and “The Fool On The Hill”. This LP has never been reissued on CD, so this vinyl rip is a treasured gem from the past, enjoy!
