Eddie Fisher - Eddie Fisher & The Next One Hundred Years (1970)

A virtual primer in the art of soul-jazz guitar, Eddie Fisher and the Next Hundred Years is a record of uncommon virtue and consummate skill. A longtime R&B sideman, Fisher clearly relishes his turn in the spotlight, unspooling a series of endlessly inventive solos boasting the reach and consciousness of psychedelia. Fisher shifts gears effortlessly, transitioning from nuanced, intimate melodies to wild flights of fancy in the blink of an eye. Songs including "Jeremiah Pucket," "Land of Our Father," and "Either One" twist and turn like rides at an amusement park, achieving a comparable excitement and awe. ~  Extract by Jason Ankeny, AMG.

Ramsey Lewis - Them Changes (1970) [vinyl]

Ramsey Emmanuel Lewis Jr. (27th May, 1935 - 12th September, 2022) was a great American jazz composer, pianist, and radio personality. Lewis recorded over 80 albums and received five gold records and three Grammy Awards in his career. His best-known singles include "The In Crowd", "Sun Goddess", and "Wade in the Water". With his passing, here is a relatively unknown ‘Cadet’ records album, which to date has only been released on LP. For this live session, he is joined by guitarist Phil Upchurch, bassist Cleveland Eaton and drummer Morris Jennings. The group is spurred on by the very appreciated audience covering three Lewis compositions and a number of popular tunes. All players arm themselves with an arsenal of ‘Fender' musical instruments. As a result, this performance is truly electrified. Ramsey excels on both piano and Rhodes and Phil intensifies the scene with his exceptional style, both backed by a vibrant rhythm section. The vinyl itself was in OK condition with only a few hardly noticeable artifacts, enjoy!

Eddie Fisher Quintet - The Third Cup (1969) [re-rip]

Edward Thomas Fisher was born March 4, 1943 and after listening for only a few moments you know he's the one...he's the important part of the next legend...the legend of "Boss String-Pickers." Good guitar players are not easy to come by. Reason: the guitar can't be faked. In other words, you can't ride the wind on someone else's blowing. Charlie Christian, Johnny Smith, Barney Kessell, Kenny Burrell and Wes Montgomery are club members in Guitar's "Hall of Fame." They all wore the label Boss Guitar, and I'm sure they'll be remembered for their varied contributions to modern music. But the Bossest Guitar of 'em all could belong to this young mover from the east...East St. Lois, by way of Little Rock, Arkansas. ~ by Leo Chears, Liner Notes.

Eddie Fisher (1943-2007) came out of Wes Montgomery & Grant Green, but on his Cadet albums there's a spareness, a rawness, a looseness in his playing. The whole album is excellent. The title track is one of the high masterpieces of soul-jazz. The best stuff here isn't funk, it's shimmering, limber, spare steppers; with organ and a second, rhythm guitar, and one Paul Jackson on bass.
