Sad to see the end of this era...DB did so much to advance the cause of this music. In a time when jazz was mostly in the grip of Be-bop noodling, Dave & Paul did take a "Time Out" indeed, a tray of dry Martini's was the famous Q. Take Eternity Dave, your music and memory will last that long.
I liked his bebop noodling too. He would take a simple folk song, e.g. Stephen Foster's "Oh, Susanna," and play it in 12/8, then superimpose double-time swing over it, and then drop the 12/8.
